The Team GA 16U national team found themselves in the bronze/copper pool after a decent day 1 going 2-2 in duals on the day and finishing Pool C in 4th place overall. They had 3 duals ahead of them with Idaho, Pennsylvania, and The Oklahoma Outlaws Blue.
Starting out the day with Idaho, Team GA won its fair share of matches winning 7 out of 17 but we gave up too many pins and techs in order to keep this one within reach by the end. Out of the 10 losses we had, 7 were by fall. On the bright side all 7 of GA’s wins were by bonus point with three pins coming from Ariah Mills, Dylan Reel, and Cody Clarke. Team GA lost this dual to Idaho by a score of 46-33.
After the Idaho loss Team GA would have to rebound as they saw Pennsylvania in the second round. Pennsylvania jumped out to an early lead winning 6 of the first 9 matches, each by bonus points. Team GA was able to go on a run winning 5 of the next 6 to climb back in the dual and make it competitive. Pennsylvania proved to be too much in the end securing the dual meet victory by winning the final two matches. Pennsylvania won this dual meet by a score of 41-35.
Team GA took on Oklahoma Outlaws Blue in the final match of pool play before the placement duals took place. Ga started strong winning 2 of the first 3 after that it was all downhill for GA. Oklahoma took the next 7 matches in a row with 5 of those being bonus point wins. Team GA would not go quietly without a fight as the back end of our lineup came up ith some late pins, but it was too little too late for these boys as they fell to The Oklahome Outlaws Blue by a score of 47-30.
In the placement match, and final match of the tournament, Team GA would take on Oregon for 7th place in the Bronze/Copper pool. The Mills boys and Cody Clarke started us off strong winning 3 of the first 4 wth 2 pins and 1 tech fall but the middle of our lineup continued to struggle as Oregon was able to win the next 5 matches in a row. The dual would go back and forth after that and ended in two back to back double forfeits at 215 and 285. Team GA would fall to Oregon in the placement round by a score of 33-37.
This Cadet National team had a rough 2nd day going 0-4 in their dual meets giving them an overall record of 2-6 for the tournament. They finished in 4th place overall in Pool C, 8th place overall in the Bronze/Copper pool and in 16th place overall out of 32 teams for the Greco Tournament.
Day 2 Greco Hammer for the Cadet National Team: Cody Clarke was an absolute stud on the mat today for Team GA going 4-0 with 3 pins and a tech fall.
