12U Boys Freestyle State

  This past Saturday, May 11th, Life University held the Freestyle and Greco Individual State tournament. Wrestlers from all over the state, ranging from 8U to high school seniors, were in attendance. Top 4 placers in each weight class automatically qualified for Fargo this summer. Let’s take a deeper look at how the kids fared this weekend.

For the 12U boys freestyle category Level Up Wrestling Center had quite the day. Coming away with 3 first place finishes, 2 second, 1 third and 1 fourth place. Good enough to win this group with 63 team points. The Storm Wrestling Center finished in 2nd place with 4 first place finishes and 1 second. 706 Wrestling placed 3rd with 1 first, 1 second, and 1 third. Rockmart Takedown Club rounds out the top 4 with 1 first, 1 third, and 1 fourth place finish.

12U Boys 58 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 3 man round robin. 

Hayzen Rittenhouse, from Rockmart TC, finished in 1st place. With one tech fall and one decision win. 

Nolan Gatt, from Backyard Brawlers WC, finished in 2nd place. Going 1-1 on the day with one decision loss and one tech fall. 

Gabe Turner, from SGAC, finished in 3rd place. 

12U Boys 63 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 5 man round robin. 

Levi Kaufman, Roundtree WA, finished the day in 1st place going- on the day and only giving up 1 takedown all day. 

 Landon Walker, Glasgow WA, finished in 2nd place. Going 3-1 with his only loss being to Kaufman. 

Westin Thompson, Rush MMA, finished in 3rd place overall with a 2-2 record. 

Finally, Jackson Stott finished in 4th place with a 1-3 record on the day. 

12U Boys 67 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 4 man round robin. 

Liam Oliver, Storm WC, finished in 1st place. Going 3-0 on the day with 3 tech falls. Oliver only surrendered one takedown in this tournament. 

Benton Delia, representing GA, finished in 2nd place going 2-1 on the day. Only losing to Oliver. 

Ryder Sanders, Level Up WC, finished the day in 3rd place with a 1-2 record 

Korr Chambers, ROckmart TC, ended up in 4th place. 

12U Boys 70 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 4 man round robin. 

Gideon Batchelor, Storm WC, finished the day in 1st place goin 3-0 with 2 tech falls and a pin. 

Chase Downing, Storm WC, finished the day in 2nd place going 2-1 with 2 tech falls and 1 loss to Batchelor. 

Valen King, Rockmart TC, ended up in 3rd place with a 1-2 record. 

Connor Sainsurin, Level Up WC, finished in 4th place overall. 

12U Boys 74 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a best of three, 2 man round robin bracket. The first match was very closely contested with Mason Steinhauser of Level Up WC, winning 10-8. The second round match was much more one sided, against Brantley Bolzenius, of Woodstock City Wrestling,  with Steinhauser winning 10-0. 

12U Boys 78 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 4 man round robin bracket. 

Colin Schafer, Level Up WC, won fairly easily with 2 techs and 1 pin, finishing in 1st place with a 3-0 record. 

Hudson Pefinis, Morris Fitness WC, went 2-1 on the day. Good enough to finish in 2nd place. 

Tyler Downey, Morris Fitness WC, finished the day with a 1-2 record finishing in 3rd place. 

Eli Byczek, Compound Wrestling, finished his day in 4th place. 

12U Boys 82 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 3 man round robin bracket. 

Kian Green, Jefferson WC, went 2-0 on the day with 1 tech and 1 pin. Good enough for a 1st place finish. 

Hunter Vaillant, Troup Wrestling, finished the day in 2nd place with a 1-1 record. 

Gavin Stansel,  River Ridge Jr Knights WC, finished in 3rd place. 

12U Boys 86 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 3 man round robin bracket. 

Gage Richardson, Storm WC, finished in 1st place with a 2-0 record with 2 tech falls. 

Dawson Rau, Dragons Junior WC, finished the day in second place with a 1-1 record. 

Emerson Mathieu, GB Wolfpack WC, finished in 3rd place. 

12U Boys 92 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 4 man round robin bracket. 

Silas Stanley, Dragons Junior WC, finished in 1st place with a 3-0 record. Getting 3 tech falls without giving up a single point. 

Jaz Ard, Bison Takedown WC, finished in 2nd place with 2 pins and 1 loss. 

Jacob Stewart, 706 Wrestling, finished in 3rd place with a 1-2 record. 

Kashta Freeland, Glasgow WA, finished the day in 4th place. 

12U Boys 98 lb Weight Class: Jacob Barrett of Alpha WC beat Jackson Grantham of Level up in 2 straight matches. The first match was a 16-7 contest, while the second match ended in a pin for Barrett. 

12U Boys 108 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 4 man round robin bracket. 

Raymond Brown, Storm WC, went 3-0 on the day. Narrowly escaping in his first match to then go on and dominate the rest of the field. Still good enough for 1st place. 

Grayson Cannon, Dendy Trained Wrestling, went 2-1 on the day with 2 falls and 1 decision loss by a takedown. 

Eli Hewitt, Compound Wrestling, finished this bracket in 3rd place going 1-2 on the day. 

Matthew Martinez, representing GA, finished in 4th place. 

12U Boys 117 lb Weight Class: This was a 2 man best of 3 series bracket. William Chapple of Level Up WC, pinned Cayden Chapple of Level Up WC, in back to back matches. 

12U Boys 135 lb Weight Class: Abdulla Abdllayev, Morris Fitness WC, was the only registered participant for this weight class. 

12U Boys 160 lb Weight Class: This weight class was a 3 man round robin bracket. 

Logan Pazos, 706 Wrestling, finished in 1st place with a 2-0 record with 2 pins. 

Elijah Podanym 706 Wrestling, finished in 2nd place with a 1-1 record. 

Samuel Gary, representing GA, finished in 3rd place overall for this weight class.
